By: His Grace Abba Youannis of blessed memory, late bishop of Gharbiya (Egypt)

Saint John tells us in the book of Revelation: "And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear Him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb" (Rev 19:5-9).
What is the meaning of being called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb? No words or thoughts can even come close to describing this great event. No earthly joy or happiness can compare to the marriage supper of the Lamb. It is the great festival of love. For the King of kings and the Lord of lords is making the supper of His own wedding to His beloved bride; the Church with all its members.

Countless multitudes of Angels; thousands of thousands, and myriads of myriads will be there.

And who is this bride that sits beside the Lord Jesus; the slain Lamb? How beautiful she is! No words can describe her glory. The blood of the Lamb has changed sinners into His own bride. Now they conform to His image, and sit with Him in His throne (Rev 3:21).
Amidst this indescribable glory, the bride will feel as if she is dreaming. But, because of the true love she has, her eyes will be fixed upon her beloved; the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne; her own Bridegroom.
Amidst all the hymns of joy of the Angels and of all the heavenly creatures, she can only hear one voice; the voice of her beloved; the King of kings. Now she can stay with Him forever. Now she can see Him face to face. Now she can behold His glory with an open face; that glory that she had only beheld as in a glass (2Co:18). For when she was on earth, she saw Him through a glass, darkly; but now, face to face (1Co 13:12).
The bride has now reached the final destination of her trip on the "heaven-bound express". She has landed into the greatest of all stations; the station of love.

The bride shall gaze upon the King in His glory.. for He is "fairer than the children of men" (Ps 45:2). And He shall say unto her: "How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse." (Song 4:10).

And the bride shall  remember her past.. and meditate upon the estate of her bridegroom; the King of kings, and suddenly she falls down before His feet, worshipping Him. But He shall lift her up and seat her beside Him! "And the glory which Thou gavest me I have given them" (Jn 17:22) For she is His bride of whom David said: "Upon Thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir" (Ps 45:9).
The bride has realized all that  through her love for her bridegroom. Ah! who can recognize the old sinner in the person of this bride?! For she wears the garments of a queen; made of fine linen, clean and white. She is crowned with a crown of righteousness, as a reward for the shame and affliction which she endured for His name's sake, in patience, humility, and love. For she had carried His cross  joyously, and walked after Him .. all the way.
And who can describe the joy of the Heavenly Father as He sees the fruits of the sufferings of His beloved Son. For His bride is but a congregation of sinners, but now they are conformed to the image of His son, Who gave Himself for them, and endured death on their behalf. He had set them free of sin and of its bondage, that they may reflect the glory of their Creator .. once more. All of these are but a multitude of sinners who were transformed through the love of the Son of God into saints, whose foremost virtue is love.
Blessed indeed is he who can appear before the Lord on that day! His sincere and pure love has made him worthy to partake of this indescribable glory; through  the power of the salvation that was completed by the Son of God upon the Cross; at Calvary.
An unutterable glory will cloth those ransomed; who came from the great tribulation; and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. "Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes" (Rev 7:15-17).

Oh what is all this glory my God? It is the eternal life that thou hast promised unto those who love Thee.
